Welcome to University of Washington School of Social Work & Home & Community Services CORE training program. The CORE training program is specifically designed for HCS field staff and Aging Network case managers.
This training program is composed of three units. Units 3 & 4 are available online and Unit 2is currently offered as a face-to-face class only. Each unit has a central theme and addresses critical skill and knowledge areas essential to effective service delivery. The objectives of the CORE training program are to:
Increase both the practical and theoretical knowledge of staff
Strengthen professional identity
Strengthen knowledge of the psychology, physiology and social implications of aging, chronic disability and illness
Increase worker understanding of normal adult development
Strengthen worker knowledge and understanding of the impact of cultural diversity on their work
Increase worker skills in working cross-culturally
Strengthen worker understanding of client autonomy, empowerment and advocacy issues
Increase worker knowledge regarding legal alternatives for vulnerable adults
Increase worker skills in assessment and service delivery for younger adults with chronic illness or disabilities.
